Reader's Guide
The 2004 cycling program marked a continuation of Olympic tradition with three disciplines. Australia dominated track events, winning 5 out of its 6 cycling gold medals there. World records were broken in three events: Anna Meares of Australia set a women's 500 m time trial record of 33.952 seconds; Sarah Ulmer of New Zealand set a women's individual pursuit record of 3:24.537; and the Australian men's team pursuit team set a record of 3:56.610.
